Staying up to speed with one's acquired driving skills and compliance training for truck drivers is essential to ensuring overall trucking safety. Those who adhere to these rules and regulations the best are often rewarded for their hard work in protecting themselves and other motorists on the nation's highways. A Californian trucker recently received one of these recognitions by the Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA).

Tim Trotter of Castaic, California, was named a new member of the Safe Driving Award Program. He has successfully completed almost 30 years of accident-free driving while navigating his commercial tractor-trailer throughout the nation.

The award is sponsored by Shell Rotella. According to the company's website, they have been involved in these types of truck driving safety recognition programs for decades, honoring those with extensive accident-free experience and a select few who reach the million-mile mark without any preventable mishaps. They give out rewards and prizes to truckers throughout the U.S. and Canada.

New drivers who have completed their CDL training may want to keep these honors in mind when starting on the job and have goals of also accomplishing impressive driving records.
