YRC Worldwide is planning to move 120 jobs by the end of the year from its facility in Akron, Ohio, to Overland Park, Kansas, which is opening up more opportunities for truckers in the area who have the necessary CDL training.
Trucking jobs are not the only ones that will be available as a result of the move. Employment opportunities in accounting, customer service and cargo claims will be available in Overland Park. The company will also be transitioning some jobs from Ohio to Iowa and South Dakota, according to the Kansas City Star.
Kansas Commerce Secretary Pat George said the state will benefit greatly from this shift, because having major transportation companies in the state can only be a positive.
“We want to thank Secretary George and the entire team at the Kansas Department of Commerce for their valuable help,” said Jeff Rogers, president of YRC Freight. “At YRC Freight, we are building a team focused on delivering quality and consistently reliable freight service for our customers."
YRC Freight has more than 200,000 customers in North America, and also delivers more than 50,000 shipments a day to both small and large businesses.
